Health systems research carried out by formative works aims to improve the quality of health care through methodologically sound analyses. To this end, approaches and instruments various qualitative and quantitative methods from social research are used (surveys, expert interviews, online surveys, document analyses, participatory observation, focus groups, etc.).
In terms of content, processes, organisational issues and framework conditions play an important role alongside health care measures. Care concepts are developed and their implementation is researched and evaluated under everyday conditions.
The term health care is interpreted broadly. It includes care and support, diagnostics and therapies, care and aftercare by health and social care professionals or the commitment of volunteers. This includes education and training, but also prevention, health promotion and psychosocial care.
